The dream where I found cash on the street
I've had this one more than once: I'm walking along and suddenly there's money on the ground — a twenty here, a fold of bills there — and I'm scooping it up faster than I can hold it. I always wake up a little giddy and a little guilty, like I got away with something. For years I assumed it meant I secretly wanted to be rich. Then I noticed when it happened: always during stretches when I'd just been told I was good at something, or landed work I wasn't sure I deserved. The money wasn't money. It was me finally letting myself believe I had value.
Why cash is such a convenient symbol
Money is the most efficient stand-in your mind has for worth, because in waking life we already use it that way — we say someone "paid me a compliment," that an idea is "valuable," that we're "spent." I've never found it useful to spiritualize a dream that's really just my checking account talking. So before you read it as a grand statement about self-worth, ask the boring question first: am I actually worried about money right now? If yes, the dream may simply be holding that worry up to the light.

Set the finances aside for a second and ask the version that usually matters more: where in my life do I feel rich right now, and where do I feel short-changed? Rich in friends but short-changed on time. Rich in ideas but short-changed on credit. That's the conversation these dreams are usually trying to start, in the only currency the dreaming mind keeps in its pockets.
